SKYPE!

I have used Skype a few times during this semester. EDM 310 was actually the reason that I signed up for Skype at all! I have used it to keep in touch with one of my best friends from high school. She is going to school in Auburn and I don't get to see her very much. She is a pretty big part of my life still (even being 3 years out of high school) and I loved getting to have a conversation with her and seeing her at the same time. With money being an issue lately, neither of us can visit each other unless we both happen to go home during the same weekend. The first time we used it, we couldn't stop giggling because it was the first time for both of us to try Skype. I will definitely continue to use it to stay in touch with her. Its so easy! My Skype name is Marinebioliz.

April 25th Assignment

This 7th grader that shows her PLN in this video really has a lot organized. She already knows so much about how to use the technology that is provided for her. There are a few programs mentioned in the video that would be a lot of help with lessons in class. I have to admit, she does have a lot more going with her PLN than I do with mine. I also do not have to do so many activities and projects that she has to do with her technology. This is a great example of how students are learning with technology these days!

"What is your sentence" and "Was I better today than I was yesterday" were the two questions mentioned in this video. It asks you to think of just one sentence that would describe what you have done/will do. With everything that I wish to do after graduation, I would say that my sentence would have something to do with helping others. Maybe something along the lines of, "She gave her time and helped those in need." Yeah, that sounds nice. The next question that asks, "Was I better today than I was yesterday" has a different answer daily. Some days I might feel as though I am in the slumps and have done nothing right. On most says I would answer 'yes' to this question because I try to better myself with each new day.

Substantive Presentation

Below is the link for our group's Substantive Presentation. Spring Taylor, Mandy Sullivan, and I created a Google document presentation about the Honest Reflection post on Dr. Strange's blog. We video recorded ourselves presenting our slide show presentation. In this video we talk about honesty in class and in our future careers as teacher. There is also a cute video of an elementary student and his opinion about being honest...check it out!

This is the Technology presentation that Spring Taylor, Mandy Sullivan, and I did for class! You may find the theme music a little familiar. It's pretty informational!

April 11th Assignment

This video was incredible to watch. How adorable are the voices of those children! And...they were asked to come perform WITH Fleetwood Mac! What a great experience for them. Obviously if they had not recorded this song and posted it to the internet then they would not have had this opportunity. It is great idea for students to post their work on their blogs and on the internet (Facebook, YouTube, etc.) because it puts their talent and ideas for the world to enjoy! It also gives the chance for new talent to find its way to a bigger audience. Some other examples of students posting work include:

*The Dear Kaia website where this little girl and her father are contacted by another class for their blog posts.
Dear Kaia

*Mr Cook's 5th year class in a primary school in North Nottinghamshire, England.
Priestsic5

*Room 8 at Pt England School that is a year 2 and 3 class at Pt England School in Auckland.
